I had an amazing opportunity to travel to the USA with my family last April. It’s crazy how something that used to be a dream finally became a reality, and eventually, a memory. The daydreaming turned into remembering. The what ifs became a what is. The somedays became a today. Even after coming home, it still felt so surreal. Even writing this makes me so emotional. Wow! God is just so good!
My dream destination has always been and always will be Los Angeles. I’ve been a Lakers fan ever since I was a kid and I’ve always been very vocal about my dream of becoming a filmmaker. Los Angeles embodies those dreams of mine. I always thought of the city as the gateway to my dreams; and it did get me there.
I may be years late to seeing Kobe Bryant play, but I’m still beyond grateful to be able to watch not one, not two, but three Lakers games. The energy inside the arena is so different than watching the game on TV. I experienced an exciting win, a terrible loss, and a thrilling game. It was everything I imagined it to be. Ahhh!! I still can’t believe it!
I was really happy, but I have to be honest, there was a time in LA when I felt very sad. One thing about the city is that it’s too big, and because of that, I felt so small. As I looked around, I felt that everybody had a place there except for me. We visited film studios. Everything that I wished to see and hoped to become was just in front of me. So close but it still felt so far away. The saddest thing about it was that I couldn’t even try. The trip became heartbreaking rather than inspiring. But it’s okay. Just when I was about to throw myself a pity party, God told me through His Word to always trust His purpose, His process, and His timing.
There are things in life that we can’t control, and we can’t have but despite all that, God is still the same. He remains to be the powerful, the sovereign, and the loving God. Whether our dreams come true or not, He still deserves to be given all praise, glory, and honor. So, I praise Him for the dreams that came true, for the dreams that did not, and for the dreams that are still yet to come true.
Here are the photos that I took during our 8-day trip in LA. Comment below if you’ve seen some of these places from the movies you’ve watched before. ☺️
